Money Smart Week Hosted by Fred Douglass Community Development Corporation
MONEY SMART WEEK AT THE JACKSONVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
April 5, 2014
April 5, 2014
Fred Douglass Community Development Corporation has partnered with the Jacksonville Public Library, and local Jacksonville banks, Austin Bank, Capital One, Citizens Bank of Jacksonville, Prosperity Bank, and Southside Bank, to bring Money Smart activities to Jacksonville.
Money Smart Week is a public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances. This is achieved through the collaboration and coordinated effort of organizations including non-profits, financial institutions, libraries, businesses, schools, government agencies and the media. These groups come together once a year to stress the importance of financial literacy, inform consumers about where they can get help and provide free educational seminars and activities throughout the week. The effort was created by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 2002. Partnering Organizations will host their events April 5 -12, 2014.
Money Smart workshops will be held at the Jacksonville Public Library on Saturday, April 5, 2014, 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Workshops are structured to promote financial literacy for children (ages 5-9), youth (ages 10-20) and adults (ages 21 up). Local bankers will discuss needs versus wants, budgeting, spending, saving, credit, banking basics, and other topics. Each child will receive a special gift to help them begin developing good financial habits.
Everyone is encouraged to come out to receive information to help improve their financial well-being by taking part in Money Smart Week activities. Workshops are free to the public, but participants must register to attend. Registration can be done online at http://www.123contactform.com/form-890824/Money-Smart-Registration, or by contacting Delanna Carpenter Hollis at 903 393 2516. Workshops will be held at the Jacksonville Public Library, 502 S. Jackson St., Jacksonville TX 75766.
